The 'Atmabodh Sadhana' program was launched With the intention of keeping the spiritual tradition of Maharashi Vinod alive in contemporary times. 25 specially selected sadhaks will take part in this program and Guruji Dr. Vinod will lead the program.

Over the next 3 years these sadhaks will continue their sadhana under the special guidance of Guruji. The intention is to make the sadhana an integral part of their lives with special emphasis on knowledge acquired through yogic practises and techniques. With the knowledge acquired thorough atmabodh sadhana, these sadhaks can reach out to others and propogate what they have learnt. In this way they will be representatives of and will carry forward the tradation started by Maharshi Vinod and sustained by Dr.
Samprasad Vinod. The main aim of this program is the creation of a group or a sangha of such sadhkas - enlightened, knowledgeabble, empathetic, successful in their working and spirtual lives, and capable of keeping the traditions started by Maharshi Vinod alive.

A session of Atmabodh Sadhana was orgnized under the guidance of Dr. Vinod at Abhiruchi Farms in Panshet on 13 and 14 September 2008. During the two day event, sadhaks focused on thier sadhana in addition to prayers, and lectures and discussions with Dr. Vinod. The sessions were recorded by Devendra Kotwal and the overall orgainzation was handled by Parimal Patil, Shriram Katakkar, Rahul Kulkarni and Sandeep Gosavi.

A regular session of the Atmabodh Sadhana group took place at Shanti Mandir on Saturday 20th September 2008 from 5 am to 7:30 am. Dr. Vinod's lecture on topics related to the Sadhana was followed by a group discussion.The session was attended by 22 sadhaks and recorded by Devendra Kotwal.

A regular meeting of the Atmabodh Sadhana group took place at Shanti Mandir on Saturday 27th Sept 2008. Dr. Vinod spoke on the topic "The importance of an inquisitive attitude". 29 sadhaks attended the session and it was recorded.

25 sadhaks attended the session of Atmabodh Sadhana held on Saturday 4th October 2008 at Shanti Mandir. Dr. Vinod spoke on the importance on serving others and the session was recorded.

A regular session of the Atmabodh Sadhana group took place at Shanti Mandir on Saturday 17th October 2008 from 5 am to 7 am. Dr Vinod spoke on the topic "NityaNitya Vastu vivek".

During the session of the Atmabodh Sadhana group on Saturday 7th Nov 2008, Dr Vinod continued his lecture on the topic "NityaNitya Vastu vivek". This was followed by a group discussion and Dr. Vinod spoke on the topic "Vairagya". 28 sadhaks attended this session. Dr. Vidula Javalgikar, aged 78 years, who has acted in Deepa Mehta's film "Water" was among the audience. She spoke about her forthcoming work that included release of 3 Marathi films in the next three months and 1 Hindi film within the next 6 months.

An outdoor session of the Atmabodh Sadhana was organized on 16th and 17 th November at Abhiruchi Farms, Panshet. Dr Vinod spoke on topics "The state of thoughtlessness" (Nirvicharta) and "AnantaSamapatti". 15 sadhaks participated in this session.

Feb.

Dr. Samprasad Vinod gave a discourse on the topic ‘Listening & Dialogue’ before a gathering of 22 sadhakas during a session of ‘Atmabodha Sadhana’ from 5 am to 7 am on Feb 07,2009, Saturday, at Shanti-Mandir.

On Feb 14, 2009 at Shanti-Mandir the weekly session of Atmabodha sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 18 sadhakas participated. This time there was no specific topic for discourse and all the sadhakas were encouraged to ask their doubts and difficulties.

On Feb 21, 2009 at Shanti-Mandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 15 sadhakas participated.
On Feb 28, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 25 sadhakas participated. Dr. Vinod gave a discourse on ‘Sakshibhava’ (observer) which was the topic of discussion.

March

On Mar 07, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 18 sadhakas participated. This week the sadhakas asked their doubts about the previous week’s discourse on Sakshibhava (observer) and there was a question and answer session.
On the same day from 9=00 AM to 1=00 PM Dr. Vinod spoke before a group of sadhakas on ‘Various Methods of Meditation’. Dr. Vinod emphasized in his speech that just being aware of one’s breath - neither control nor concentration - is important. During inhalation one experiences the inner space and during exhalation the outer.

On Mar 14, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 21 sadhakas participated. The previous week’s discussion on Sakshibhava (observer) and question and answer session were concluded. Dr. Vinod gave a discourse on ‘How to Establish a Dialogue while Communicating’.

On Mar 21, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 16 sadhakas took part. This time it was suggested that sadhakas should discuss among themselves and the topic of discussion given was ‘Contentment’. The discussion veered towards discord from dialogue.

On Mar 28, 2009 at Shanti-Mandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 22 sadhakas took part. The previous week’s discussion cum question-answer session on ‘Contentment’ continued but this time there was less discord and more harmony, also the discussion was based more on personal experience. Dr. Vinod offered his precious guidance on how to keep the subject as the centre of our focus and how to explore it together by all.

April

On Apr 04, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 18 sadhakas took part. Dr. Vinod offered his precious insights on ‘How to Contemplate and Understand any Subject at Depth’. The discussion among sadhakas that followed after Dr. Vinod’s talk was lively and interesting and everybody participated in it. It was observed that sadhakas’ are getting more matured as a group. They are more focussed on the subject in hand to understand it better; talk from their own personal experience and listen to each other’s views with respect, care and attentiveness. Dr. Vinod suggested to the sadhakas that in coming four weeks they should contemplate on the subject ‘Discipline and Freedom’ and also complete the first round of reading of ‘Dhavalgiri’.

On Apr 11, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in absence of Dr. Vinod who was on his USA tour. The sadhakas shared their views on the chosen topic of discussion ‘Discipline’. The discussion continued during the next three sessions held on Apr 16, Apr 23 and Apr 30 and in all 10-11 sadhakas were present.

May

On May 09, 2009 at Shanti-Mandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 12 sadhakas took part. Dr. Vinod just back from his tour spoke on his experience and impressions of the US tour. He also reviewed the discussion on ‘Discipline’ that sadhakas had undertaken during the previous four weeks in his absence. He also cleared the doubts and difficulties of sadhakas.

On May 16, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 11 sadhakas took part.

On May 23, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 12 sadhakas took part. Dr. Vinod spoke on ‘Surrender, Dissolution of Ego and Humility’ before the gathering.

On May 30, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 12 sadhakas took part. Dr. Vinod continued with his previous week’s topic ‘Surrender, Dissolution of Ego and Humility’ which was followed by discussion among sadhakas. The entire session was audio recorded.

June

On Jun 20 & 21, 2009 the sessions of Atmabodha Sadhana were organized at Surya Shibir instead of the usual venue Shantimandir. It was attended by 14 sadhakas. In the first session Dr. Vinod gave a discourse on ‘Anugraha Dikha Mhanaje Kay’ ( what is meant by Initiation). Pravin Waghmare accompanied Dr. Vinod to this program. The second session was held from 8=30 AM to 10=00 AM; the third one from 11=00 AM to 1=00 PM and the fourth one was organized from 2=00 PM to 3=30 PM. In these sessions many concepts about meditation were given lucid clarification during the question-answer time.

July

On July 04, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am. Dr. Vinod spoke on Adi Shankarcharya’s verse ‘Twaya Bhayaya Nirbhaya Dyitiyat Vai Bhayam.

On Jul 11, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 19 sadhakas took part. Dr. Vinod continued with his topic of the previous week ‘Bhititun Mookti’ (freedom from fear).
On Jul 18, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 20 sadhakas took part. Dr. Vinod gave his precious guidance on Kapalbhati Pranayama. After his talk he gave a demonstration of Kapabhti pranayama and later on under his watchful eyes all sadhakas followed suit. Shri and Sou Sham Bapat were present for this program.

On Jul 25, 2009 at Shantimandir the weekly session of Atmabodha Sadhana was held from 5 am to 7 am in which 20 sadhakas took part. Dr. Vinod gave his discourse on ‘Shraddha’ (Faith). The recording of this program was done by Shri Yogesh Natu. Shri and Sou Sham Bapat were present for this program.

2010

Jan

On January 2, 2010, the first “Meditation Workshop” was conducted for Batch I of Atmabodh Sadhana Group between 5 and 7 am at Shanti Mandir. Special emphasis was laid on “Combined Sadhana” and all the participants practiced group meditation. Dr. Samprasad Vinod shared his thoughts on the subjects of “Jidnyasa” (search) and “Mumuksha” (aspiration for Moksha). Mr. Sham and Mrs. Sujata Bapat were also present.

On January 3, 2010 the first session for Atmabodh Sadhana - Group II was conducted between 9 and 11 am at Shanti Mandir. Dr. Samprasad Vinod provided guidance to the participants on the concept of “Humility or Humbleness“. He also provided valuable inputs while explaining that Sadhana leads to internal transformation, enrichment and attentiveness. Attaining a Meditative state of Being and achieving internal equilibrium are important. If there is clarity in thought, comprehending a problem and solving it becomes easy.

On January 9, 2010 participants of Atmabodh Sadhana - Group I did combined Sadhana between 5 and 7 am at Shanti-Mandir.

On January 10, 2010 the session for Atmabodh Sadhana - Group II was conducted between 9 and 11 am during which Dr. Samprasad Vinod guided the Group regarding the subject of “Jidnyasa”. Importance of regular Sadhana, being apprised of the current state of affairs, openness of mind and the search for the Self, the meaning of “Bodh” or realization were the topics on which Dr. Vinod provided guidance.

On January 16, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group I was conducted between 5 and 7 am. “Samadhi Pada” was the subject for discussion. What is “Samadhi”? How is this state; what is “Yog” were the topics touched upon. Dr. Vinod shared his thoughts on Sadhana Pada, Vibhuti Pada, Kaivalya Pada and pure thoughtlessness with the participants.

On January 17, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group II was conducted between 9 and 11am. “Vishuddha Jidnyasa” – (Wholesome Search) was the subject for discussion on which guidance was provided by competent members. Sadhana urges a person on the path of pure pursuit. Internal equilibrium or poise helps in establishing a rapport with the external world.

On January 23, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group I was conducted between 5 and 7 am at Shanti Mandir. Dr. Vinod expressed his thoughts on “Atha Yoganushasanam” from Yogdarshan-2. Atha means preparation. Discussion was also held on “parampara”. About 15 seekers were present for this session.

On January 24, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group II was conducted between 9 and 11am at Shanti Mandir. Dr. Vinod shared his thoughts on the topic “Is getting angry good?” The search for knowledge changes our perspective. Analysing our anger, finding the reasons behind the anger and taking efforts to reduce the anger are not the same as not getting angry at all or transcending anger. Detailed discussion on the subject was followed by a question answer session during which doubts were cleared. The session was attended by about 20 seekers. Mr. Parimal Patil and Mr. Raju Khedekar lent their support during the session.

On January 30, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group I was conducted between 5 and 7 am at Shanti Mandir. The topic for discussion was “Patanjali Yogadarshan – Meaning and Yog”. Dr. Vinod explained the co-relation between openness of mind and ‘parampara’.

On January 31, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group II was conducted between 9 and 11am at Shanti Mandir. Dr. Vinod guided the participant sadhakas regarding the importance of Inspiration. If the inspiration is correct, efforts also are undertaken in the right direction. He also elaborated upon Ease, Effort, Rest and laziness.

Feb
On February 6, 2010 a session of Batch I of Atmabodh Sadhana Group was conducted between 5 and 7 am at Shanti Mandir. About 11 sadhaks were present. Attendees had an interactive discussion on the first two ‘sutras’ from the book ‘Yog and Man’. The session was conducted satisfactorily in the absence of Dr. Vinod.

On February 7, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana - Group II was conducted between 9 and 11 am at Shanti Mandir. About 17 sadhaks were present. In the absence of Dr. Vinod, Mr. Parimal Patil conducted the session. He took a practical on ‘attention to breath’ and ‘sensing the junction point of inhalation and exhalation’ – ‘sandhikal’. The participants did the exercise and also shared their experiences about it.

On February 13, 2010 Atmabodh Sadhana - Group I session was conduced between 5 and 7 am at Shanti Mandir. Mr. Parimal Patil and Mr. Sudhir Bapat managed this session during which discussions were held on the topic of ‘Sadhana’ and participants also shared their experiences.

On February 14, 2010 the session for Atmabodh Sadhana - Group II was conducted between 9 and 11 am during which Mr. Sudhir Bapat narrated the discussions of the earlier Atmabodh Session. Also a discussion was held on the difference between ‘Spirituality’ and ‘day-to-day living’.

On February 20, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group I was conducted between 5 and 7 am at Shanti Mandir. Dr. Vinod provided guidance and shared his thoughts on Patanjali Yog Sutra, Nirodh, Virodh, Chitta-vritti and Nature of the Self.

On February 21, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group II was conducted between 9 and 11.30 am. Dr. Vinod provided individual guidance to the sadhaks on ‘sandhi-dhyan’ - ‘sensing the junction point of inhalation and exhalation’. He also explained the difference between Shavasan Dhyan and Sandhi-Dhyan. Mr. Rajesh Khanvelkar, Mr. Raju Khedekar and Mr. Tushar Bhagat were present. Participants also discussed on how to reduce the influence of the Ego.

On February 27, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group I was conducted between 5 and 7 am at Shanti Mandir. Dhyan and the first 3 axioms of the Patanjal Yog Sutra and ‘pratyahar’ concept were elaborated upon by Dr. Vinod. Mr. Umesh Bhide shared his experience about ‘ni:shabd anubhooti’ – (ineffable experience) followed by detailed discussion on the subject. About 19 sadhaks were present for the session. Mr. Shyam and Mrs. Sujata Bapat were special attendees.

On February 28, 2010 a session for Atmabodh Sadhana – Group II was conducted between 9 and 11.30 am at Shanti Mandir.– instructions were given on how to perform Yog Postures. What is Contentment-proclivity/inclination? ‘Contentment means a Stable state of Mind’- Dr. Vinod elucidated on the subject; similarly what is discontentment was also described. What leads to discontent – was given as a topic for thought to the students. In all 18 sadhaks were present for the session.

June -

On June 5, 2010, between 6:00 to 8:00 am a combined meeting of Atmabodhsadhana batch 1 and 2 was held. All the devotees were trained for the ‘basic Yoga Introductory Sessions’ which were meant for the students of the Bhave School, Pune.

On June 12, 2010, again a combined meeting of both the AtmabodhSadhana groups was organized where in the devotees were trained and guided regarding the ‘Basic Introductory Yoga Sessions’ of Bhave School. The important guidance and advice was given by Dr. Mukta Bhagat.

On June 19, a combined meeting of both the AtmabodhSadhana groups was held. Devotees discussed about the previously held Yoga Workshop in Bhave School and also gave important feedback. In the same meeting, Dr, SamprasadVinod expressed his thoughts and revealed the true meaning of Anantsamapatti. At 8:00 am, Bhave School’s principal Mr. Mhetre, vice-principal Mrs.Shinde along with two other teachers visited Shanti-Mandir.

July

On July 3, 2010, a combined meeting of both the AtmabodhSadhana groups was held and Dr. Samprasad Vinod explained how to share our knowledge of Yoga with the correct state of mind. After that again ‘Introductory Yoga Sessions’ were held for the students of Bhave School in two batches i.e. 7:30am-8:30am and 8:30am-9:30am.

On July 4, 2010, a common meeting was held in Shanti-Mandir and Dr. Vinod gave a lecture on Nityanityvastuvivek’. Devotees like Parimal Patil, PravinWaghmare and Lalita Agashe expressed their thoughts.

On 8th July 2010, Dr. Samprasad Vinod celebrated his 61st birthday. Since morning, many of his well-wishers, friends and disciples either met him personally or called to greet him. At 8 pm on the same day, the devotees of Atmabodhsadhana came together to express their well wishes and gratitude towards Dr. Vinod and took his blessings.

On 11th July, a joint meeting of Atmabodhsadhana group 1 and 2 was held in Shanti-Mandir from 6am-8am.

A joint meeting of Atmabodhsadhana Group 1 and 2 took place from 7.00am-9.00am on 18th July 2010. In this meeting, all the devotees planned for the Gurupournima program which was to be held 25th July. They also distributed the work among themselves. As a part of the preparations for the program, they put up the photos and posters in the hall. Their participation was spontaneous and genuine.

From 31st July to 7th August 2010, in the absence of Dr. Vinod, Atmabodhsadhana meeting (both the groups) was organized from 5.00am-7.00am at Shanti Mandir. Devotees first did the Yogasadhana and then shared their experience regarding it.

On 14th August 2010, Atmabodhsadhana meeting of group 1 and 2 was held from 5am to 7.30am at Shanti Mandir. Dr. Samprasad Vinod shared his experience about various activities at Reunion.

On 21st August 2010, Atmabodhsadhana meeting was organized from 5am to 7.30am in Shanti Mandir. 19 devotees were present for this meeting. Dr. S. Vinod answered their questions and detailed discussions on the related topics were held.

On 28th August 2010, as usual, Atmabodhsadhana meeting of both the groups was organized from 5am to 7am. Devotees expressed their thoughts on ‘difficulties encountered in the early years of Sadhana’.

On 4th September 2010, the joint meeting of Atmabodhsadhana took place from 5am to 8am in the presence of 16 devotees. Devotees did their sadhana and shared their experiences.

On 18th September 2010, from 5am to 7.30am, Atmabodhsadhana meeting took place. Dr. Samprasad Vinod delivered his thoughts on ‘vayasigate…..’. 14 devotees were present for the meeting.
On 25th September 2010, A joint meeting of both the Atmabodhsadhana groups was organized. 15 devotees attended the session and the discussion on ‘Vayasigate….’ was continued.

On 2nd October 2010, in the next meeting, discussion and question answers on ‘Vayasigate…..’ were continued.
On 3rd October 2010, in the Atmabodhsadhana meeting, Dr. Vinod gave his valuable guidance on encountering the difficulties in Sadhana. A discussion on effortless ease was also held.

Meeting of Atmabodhsadhana group 2 took place on 10th October 2010 from 9am to 11am. 11 devotees were present and the devotees tried to uncover the true meaning of Prayatnashaithilya or effortless ease.

On 16th October 2010, Atmabodhsadhana meeting for group 2 was organized from 5am to 7 am in Shanti Mandir. Everyone contemplated on ‘Yogarato wa bhogarato wa’ from Bhajagovindam. The participation of all the devotees was active and in all 11 devotees were present.
